About the CD

If you'd like a copy of the CD or have any questions about it, send us an email.

The CD-ROM features all of the JCWP watershed-wide shapefile/vector data that we have collected and processed over the past three years, although it doesn't include any of the grid/raster data in our database.  The metadata (descriptions of the GIS data layers) are also included on the CD.

The CD also contains ArcExplorer projects of our watershed plan maps, as well as a copy of ArcExplorer for those who do not have any GIS software on their computers.  This basic GIS program allows anyone to use GIS data for free.

Last but not least, the CD features copies of the full Juniata Watershed Management Plan and the Executive Summary in Adobe Acrobat format.  A copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader is included on the CD for those who need it.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Unfortunately, a few errors were discovered after the CD was released.

Fortunately, it is not too difficult to fix or work around these errors.
Click on the problem below to find the solution.

FEP (Frequently Encountered Problems):

The Installer program won't allow me to install ArcExplorer or Adobe Acrobat Reader.

When I try to open an ArcExplorer project, it says it cannot find any of the files.

Installer Errors:

The Installer program is not functioning correctly on Windows 95 and 98 operating systems.  Until we figure out the problem, please open the ReadMe document in the ReadMe folder on the CD-ROM and follow the instructions on how to install the programs manually.

ArcExplorer Project Errors:

The ArcExplorer projects are not functioning correctly on Windows 95 and 98 operating systems.  However, you can download corrected project files on this web page.

If you copied the GIS data to your computer's hard drive, click here.

If you are accessing the GIS data from the CD-ROM, click here.

Using GIS data from the hard drive:

If you are accessing the GIS data from your hard drive, download these projects directly into the folder where your JCWP GIS data resides.  To download, right click with your mouse, and choose "Save Link As" (Netscape) or "Save Target As" (Internet Explorer).  Do not change the project name.  Select the folder where the JCWP GIS data resides.  If it asks you whether you want to replace the original file, click "yes."

NOTE: These projects must be placed in the same folder as the GIS data.  They should replace the old project files.  They will not function correctly otherwise.

Accessing GIS data from the CD-ROM:

If you are accessing the GIS data from the CD-ROM, you will first need to determine the "drive letter" of your CD-ROM drive.  (Hint: It is probably D, E, or F.  You can check for sure by double-clicking on "My Computer" on your desktop.  The CD drive will be the one with the image of a CD next to it.)  You will need to save the projects that correspond to the drive letter of your CD-ROM.

Download these projects into a folder of your choosing.  (Hint: I recommend creating a folder named "JCWP_Projects" and save all the projects into that folder.)  To download, right click with your mouse, and choose "Save Link As" (Netscape) or "Save Target As" (Internet Explorer).  Do not change the project name.  Select the folder where you want to put the projects.

Click on the letter that corresponds to the drive letter of your CD-ROM:
